Volleyball Preview: Groton Tigers vs. Langford Lions

Groton has been away from home for five games now, but on Monday they'll finally make their return. A feisty cat fight will be fought when Tigers faces off against the Langford Lions at 7:30 p.m. Groton will be strutting in after a victory while Langford will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Thursday, everything went Groton's way against Deuel as Groton made off with a 3-0 win.

While Groton might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Deuel scored at least 16 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-11.

Groton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Liz Fliehs, who had seven digs and 15 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Locke, who had four digs and four aces.

She wasn't the only good server: Groton was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 12 consecutive matches.
