Soccer Recap: Stephenville Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, Stephenville finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Brownwood Lions who were credited with the win. The Brownwood Lions got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees' two. The Yellow Jackets/Honeybees were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Stephenville's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Brownwood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Stephenville and Brownwood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Stephenville will challenge Little River Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday up 295 places (171 vs. 466). Meanwhile, Brownwood (ranked 273rd) will meet Lampasas (ranked 670th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
