The Livingston Lions will square off against the Shepherd Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Livingston 3.3, Shepherd 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Last Tuesday, Livingston made easy work of Hardin-Jefferson and carried off a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Raigen Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brianna Nelson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Taylor Wright, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Livingston hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hardin-Jefferson struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shepherd, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Hargrave 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since March 5th.
Isabelle Hooper was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Hooper was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Rylei N was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Livingston is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Shepherd, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.
