Softball Recap: Oakwood Takes a Loss

If Oakwood was riding high fresh off their 20-3 takedown of New Summerfield last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oakwood Panthers came up short against the Grapeland Sandies on Wednesday, falling 8-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Sandies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Oakwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaler Richardson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Aubrey Crowder was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Oakwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Grapeland, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Oakwood Panthers take on Latexo Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grapeland, they will square off against Slocum at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Slocum will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Grapeland surely won't give up without a fight.
