Softball Preview: Taylor Ducks vs. Caldwell Hornets

Taylor is 0-3 against Caldwell since March of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Taylor Ducks will head out on the road to square off against the Caldwell Hornets at 7:00 p.m.

Last Monday, Taylor suffered a tough 19-1 loss at the hands of Giddings. Taylor has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Caldwell scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over Manor New Tech. The win was nothing new for Caldwell as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Caitlyn Faust and Avery Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Faust pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). Meanwhile, Smith tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Faust scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Smith scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last seven games she's played.

In other batting news, Caldwell got a massive performance out of Kamryn Hill, who went 2-for-2 with a home run, five RBI, and a triple. Kelly Urbanovsky was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Taylor's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Caldwell, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
