Softball Game Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Fremd Vikings

Conant is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Fremd is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will host the Vikings at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Conant has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Conant's win against Wheeling wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars skirted past the Wildcats 5-3. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Ava Falcone was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailyn Kehoe, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fremd never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Rolling Meadows with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Fremd has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Conant, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
