Preview: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. Oakdale Eagles
The Wartburg Central Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Oakdale Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Wartburg Central is ranked 401st, while Oakdale is ranked 381st).
Wartburg Central suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Friday. They were outmatched by Jellico on the road and fell 77-36.
Meanwhile, Oakdale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rockwood. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Wartburg Central bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Oakdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.
Wartburg Central came up short against Oakdale in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 73-61. Can Wartburg Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
