Basketball Recap: Refugio Takes a Loss

Refugio easily dispatched Skidmore-Tynan last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Refugio Bobcats fell just short of the Kenedy Lions by a score of 61-58 on Friday. The Bobcats have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

DJ Williams was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds for Kenedy. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hill, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and seven boards.

Refugio's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Kenedy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-15.

Refugio has already played their next contest (against Pettus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Kenedy Lions face off against the Yorktown Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Kenedy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
