Baseball Recap: Warrenton Find Success

While Warrenton's win against Horizon Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Hawks on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Talon McGrorty was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

McGrorty wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Odin Wilson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Ryder Sturgell was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Warrenton's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Horizon Christian, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Warrenton will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Horizon Christian, they will challenge Catlin Gabel at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
