Basketball Recap: Delta Extends Winning Streak to Six

Delta hadn't done well against Wapahani recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Delta Eagles came out on top against the Wapahani Raiders by a score of 54-43. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles who have now won six games in a row.

Delta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jillian Barr, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards. Barr has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Griffyn Knight was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven steals.

Delta was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wapahani only racked up eight assists.

Wapahani's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Megan Luce, who went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimber Abshear, who posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.

Delta is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Wapahani, they moved to 16-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Delta will head out on the road to challenge Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.3 points per game this season. As for Wapahani, they will welcome Monroe Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Monroe Central also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 51.4 points per game.
