Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions vs. Owyhee Storm

The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions will take on the Owyhee Storm in a tournament on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Mountain Ridge put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They came out on top against Mullen by a score of 10-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Mountain Lions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Owyhee entered their tilt with Columbia on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wildcats 18-3. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Kelly Leak looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Booth, who went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jack Hallenbeck, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mountain Ridge's record now sits at 5-7. As for Owyhee, their record is now 5-1.
