Baseball Recap: Abbeville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Thornwell two weeks ago, Abbeville came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenwood Christian Hawks on Thursday. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Bradean Randall and Trey Deason stepped up to the plate in a big way. Randall got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Deason went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases and one run. Deason is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Easton Townsend, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Abbeville's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Greenwood Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Coming up, Abbeville will venture away from home to challenge Calhoun Falls Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenwood Christian, they will host Spartanburg Day at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
