Recap: Calvary Christian Academy vs. Salisbury Christian
Calvary Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 12th straight defeat. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salisbury Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Calvary Christian Academy came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 60th in Delaware, while Salisbury Christian is ranked 301st in Maryland).
When it comes to explaining why Calvary Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is JR Gillespie (HS). Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Javin Jenkins, who scored six points along with two steals.
Calvary Christian Academy dropped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Salisbury Christian, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian Academy will take on Concord Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Calvary Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday. As for Salisbury Christian, they will play host again and welcome Delmarva Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
