Baseball Recap: Washington Finds Home Field Redemption Against Mission

There's no place like home for Washington, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Mission Bears by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-5 last Monday.

Tasso Tourlos made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washington is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-13 otherwise. Tourlos was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Kim, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Troy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

The win snapped Washington's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-14 record. As for Mission, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Washington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
