Softball Recap: Fairfield Knights vs. Greenwood Wildcats
The Fairfield Knights made easy work of the Greenwood Wildcats on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Knights have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddy Payne made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Addison Welch was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Klinedinst, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
