Basketball Recap: Des Moines Demons vs. Trinidad Miners
Des Moines kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Trinidad Miners, falling 57-37. The Demons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Miners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.
Leading Trinidad to victory were Jeremiah Romero and Cole Gegelman. Romero went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points and seven steals, while Gegelman shot 75% from the field to rack up 15 points. Those 15 points gave Gegelman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Garcia, who posted 11 points.
Des Moines wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-31 victory against Walsenburg on the 5th. As for Trinidad, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-54 win against Kim/Branson on the 5th.
