Softball Game Preview: Clifton Central Comets vs. Grant Park Dragons

For the second straight game, Clifton Central will face off against Grant Park. The Comets will face off against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clifton Central's hitters haven't had much luck over their past six contests, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Clifton Central fell victim to Grant Park and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

Sydney Jemar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

The victory snapped Grant Park's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Clifton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clifton Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grant Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts.
