Basketball Preview: Lawrenceville Indians vs. Red Hill Salukis
Lawrenceville is 10-0 against the Salukis since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Lawrenceville Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Red Hill Salukis at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Lawrenceville was beaten by the Tigers 60-21. While losing is never fun, Lawrenceville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Tigers are ranked 167th).
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Red Hill's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Mt. Carmel, falling 56-29. Red Hill has struggled against the Golden Aces recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Lawrenceville dropped their record down to 7-18 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Red Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 11-14.
Lawrenceville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Salukis in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lawrenceville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
