Recap: Elk Grove Grenadiers vs. Hersey Huskies
The Elk Grove Grenadiers lost against the Hersey Huskies back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Elk Grove was beaten by Hersey 63-14. Elk Grove has struggled against Hersey recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Daniel Pasterski threw for 64 yards on 11 of 23 attempts. Dominic Belmonte was his top target, picking up 41 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Daryl Hunt rushed for 48 yards.
Nasir Mckenzie got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Mckenzie was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. Brandon Jenkins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Elk Grove's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Hersey, Prospect, and Buffalo Grove. As for Hersey, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Elk Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hersey will stay at home for another week and welcome Wheaton-Warrenville South at 7:00 p.m. on October 28th. Wheaton-Warrenville South is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
