Basketball Recap: Casa Grande's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Casa Grande has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 61-49 to the Catalina Foothills Falcons on Tuesday. The Cougars were probably out for revenge after losing 76-59 to them when the teams met back in February of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Casa Grande still got an impressive performance from Aveon Williams, who went 10 of 21 en route to 23 points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals Williams has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Lewis, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Casa Grande smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Casa Grande's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-6. As for Catalina Foothills, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Casa Grande will head out on the road to challenge Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Casa Grande is facing Maricopa at the right time seeing as Maricopa is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Catalina Foothills, they will welcome Vista Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista Grande has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three matchups.
