Volleyball Recap: Cicero-North Syracuse Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Liverpool

Cicero-North Syracuse faced Liverpool in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Northstars fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The Northstars haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Cicero-North Syracuse actually scored more points across those five sets (101-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Cicero-North Syracuse's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jack Copeland, who had 16 kills, nine digs, and three blocks. Copeland has been hot, having posted nine or more kills the last seven times he's played. Kevin Greer was another key player, getting ten kills, eight digs, and two blocks.

Cicero-North Syracuse's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Liverpool, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Cicero-North Syracuse has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Oswego on the 24th. Liverpool has also already played their next contest (against Baldwinsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
