Baseball Recap: Archbishop McNicholas Find Success

Archbishop McNicholas lost to La Salle back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Rockets walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Lancers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Evan Sandfoss tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archbishop McNicholas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Gundler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The Rockets are undefeated when Gundler posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise.

Archbishop McNicholas' record now sits at 10-7. As for La Salle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop McNicholas will head out to challenge Bishop Fenwick at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Salle, they will venture away from home to square off against St. Xavier at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
