Baseball Recap: Paraclete Wins Going Away Against St. Paul

Paraclete entered their tilt with St. Paul on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Swordsmen a 9-0 shutout. The game marked the Spirits' most dominant victory of the season.

The result came thanks to Jacob Draper's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Paraclete is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Julian Trejo was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Paraclete is undefeated when Trejo posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lucas Morrison, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Paraclete's record is now 7-10. As for St. Paul, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.

St. Paul will be taking part in a tournament against Cajon at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paraclete will be paying especially close attention to the Swordsmen's contest: after the Swordsmen faces off against the Cowboys, they'll take on Paraclete again at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
