Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Highland's 11th in Last 13 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Highland had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Rowland Raiders as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Paisley Memory made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evalina Chavez, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Aubrey Reyes was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Highland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Highland is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Rowland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10-1 record this season.

Highland will be playing in front of their home fans against Irvine at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Vaqueros will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Rowland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
