On Tuesday Kevyn Espinoza struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. The effort marked the fewest hits Espinoza has had since back in May of 2024. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his third in a row with more than six strikeouts. On the year, he has an ERA of 6.26 over 15.7 innings pitched.

Even though Espinoza couldn't lead Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy over Academy for Academic Excellence, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 3:05 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are limping into the matchup having lost four straight on the road dating back to last season.
