Softball Recap: Erie-Prophetstown Takes a Loss

Erie-Prophetstown dropped their record down to 9-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Geneseo Maple Leafs, falling 14-1. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Erie-Prophetstown saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Hamilton, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Geneseo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Geneseo's side, they got a great performance from Kendyl Wassenhove as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Madisyn Buysse was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Lillian Brown, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erie-Prophetstown will challenge Hall at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.78 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Geneseo, they will face off against Galesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Maple Leafs are facing the Silver Streaks at the right time seeing as the Silver Streaks are stuck on a 22-game losing streak.
