Basketball Recap: Marburn Academy Falls to Foxfire in First Game of Season

Marburn Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 56-11 loss at the hands of the Foxfire Phoenix. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.

Nazir Smith went supernova for Foxfire, putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Dunn, who posted ten points.

The win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for Foxfire, bringing their record for this year to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marburn Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Oakstone Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Foxfire, they will venture away from home to take on Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
