Summit wouldn't let Glenwood Springs keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Sean Mullaly, Quinn Breigenzer, and Alejandro Baray picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Canon City gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They strolled past Eagle Valley with points to spare, taking the game 49-35. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Canon City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Reddick led the charge by rushing for 99 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Matthew Harms, who gained 116 total yards and two touchdowns.

Canon City's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Harms and Kayden Benson. Harms didn't just play on offense: he also made six total tackles and defended five passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canon City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
