Baseball Recap: Ponchatoula Comes Up Short

Ponchatoula was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-4 to the Mandeville Skippers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 31, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Ponchatoula's loss dropped their record down to 23-13. As for Mandeville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-19 record this season.

Ponchatoula and Mandeville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. The Green Wave (ranked 33rd) will meet Archbishop Shaw (ranked 86th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mandeville will take on Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (39 vs. 133).
