Softball Recap: Winona Takes a Loss

Winona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mayo Spartans. The Winhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Winona now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Mayo, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.

Looking ahead, Winona will head out to face off against Byron at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Mayo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
