Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Surry Central

Surry Central waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 70-65 W against the East Surry Cardinals. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 62-54 victory last Friday.

Surry Central was led to victory by Mason Jewell and Tripp Mcmillen. Jewell went 11-for-17 to rack up 33 points, while Mcmillen dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. The game was Mcmillen's 11th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damen Hazelwood, who posted seven points.

Despite the loss, East Surry saw an underclassman step up: sophomore JB Davis dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Davis now owns an excellent 48.6% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Carter Motsinger, who earned ten points and eight boards.

Surry Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points over those games. As for East Surry, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Surry Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 82-56 defeat against North Surry on the 21st. As for East Surry, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-73 loss against Maiden on the 25th.
