Basketball Preview: Plainfield Quakers vs. Terre Haute South Vigo Braves
The Plainfield Quakers will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Plainfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
Plainfield lost a heartbreaker to the Patriots when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again. Plainfield fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 46-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Plainfield in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Plainfield had strong showings from Harper Baker-lands, who scored 11 points, and Collin Schmidt, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Smith, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Terre Haute South Vigo had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Northview with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 67-50.
Plainfield's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Terre Haute South Vigo, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Plainfield strolled past the Braves in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a score of 78-59. Will Plainfield repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
