Basketball Game Preview: New Bern Bears vs. Havelock Rams

The New Bern Bears will head out to face off against the Havelock Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Bern beat D.H. Conley 65-59. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

It was another big night for Jussan Wiggins, who went 6 of 10 en route to 23 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Amari Reddick, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Havelock waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 66-57 win over the Monarchs.

New Bern has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Havelock, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

New Bern suffered a grim 82-57 defeat to Havelock in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can New Bern avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
