Basketball Recap: New Bern Comes Up Short

New Bern lost against South Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The New Bern Bears had to suffer through a 84-23 loss at the hands of the South Central Falcons. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-13.

When it comes to explaining why New Bern lost, don't look at Constance Jefferson. Despite the final result, she posted seven points.

It was another big night for Brook Evans, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds for South Central. Evans is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Jaidyn Boswell was another key player, putting up eight points.

This is the second loss in a row for New Bern and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for South Central, they moved to 9-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

New Bern will square off against Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Central, they will take on North Pitt at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
