Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's-Colgan Extends Winning Streak to Four

St. Mary's-Colgan came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Jayhawk Linn Jayhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 back in September.

While St. Mary's-Colgan won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-4.

Izzy Tierney was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 15 assists and seven aces. Those seven aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Lundy, who had seven digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Mary's-Colgan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are a perfect 8-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

St. Mary's-Colgan's win bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Jayhawk Linn, with the defeat, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 19-10.

St. Mary's-Colgan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Frontenac on the 11th. As for Jayhawk Linn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Cherryvale on the 11th.
