Softball Recap: Heritage Academy's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Heritage Academy dropped their record down to 19-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Mohave Accelerated Patriots, falling 13-6. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Heroes, who until this contest were averaging 2.95 runs allowed.

Heritage Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ciara Madrid, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Rowan Asanovich, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Mohave Accelerated, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 24-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.2 runs over those games.

On Mohave Accelerated's side, Kennedy Lamb made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Lamb has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Tanner Banks and Megan Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Banks fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Jones fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Jones a new career-high. Rayli Marin was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mohave Accelerated beat Heritage Academy by a score of 7-5 later that day.
