Softball Recap: East Helena Comes Up Short

East Helena extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the Lockwood LIONS, falling 23-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the LIONS this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 on April 3rd.

Sara Dearing made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Field, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

As for Lockwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Lockwood's side, the team relied heavily on Marley Chiasson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Chiasson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Plutt, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, East Helena will be taking part in a tournament against Corvallis at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Vigilantes are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Lockwood, they will welcome Billings Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
