Recap: Peetz Bulldogs vs. Leyton Warriors

The Peetz Bulldogs came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Leyton with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. For Peetz, this counts as revenge for the 55-52 defeat Leyton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Noah Naegele continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with three steals and three blocks. It was the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Rhyder Bayne was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Leyton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calvin Borgmann, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Borges, who scored ten points.

Leyton's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Jeremiah Hajek got a bit more time on the court (32 vs. his season average of 13.47). Hajek made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Peetz pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Leyton, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peetz will take on Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Peetz is facing Caliche at the right time seeing as Caliche is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Leyton, they and Sedgwick County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Leyton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
