Preview: Lincoln Southeast Knights vs. Kearney Bearcats
Lincoln Southeast is 2-8 against Kearney since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Lincoln Southeast Knights will jump right back in to play the Kearney Bearcats at 2:30 p.m. Lincoln Southeast has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 318 points over their last five matchups.
Even though Lincoln North Star scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Lincoln Southeast still came out on top. Lincoln Southeast took down Lincoln North Star 71-57.
Taye Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lincoln Southeast's points. Deng Giet was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Kearney has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 29 points or more this season. They took their matchup at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 76-47 win over Grand Island. The win was nothing new for Kearney as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kearney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Webber, who scored 18 points.
Lincoln Southeast is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Kearney, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Lincoln Southeast came up short against Kearney in their previous meeting back in February, falling 70-66. Can Lincoln Southeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
