Baseball Recap: Hoboken Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Hoboken nor Bloomfield made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Redwings fell just short of the Bengals by a score of 3-2. The Redwings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ethan Ortiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Max Casazza was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Evan Ojeda was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Hoboken's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Bloomfield, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hoboken will take on Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bloomfield, they will face off against Union City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
