Softball Recap: Las Vegas Drops Season-High Score on Desert Pines

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Las Vegas). Everything went their way against the Desert Pines Jaguars on Monday as the Las Vegas Wildcats made off with a 43-15 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Jaguars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Angela Moreno and Kaylynn Gordy did most of the damage at the plate: Moreno scored four runs while getting on base in six of her ten plate appearances, while Gordy scored six runs while getting on base in six of her ten plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Gordy a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Amanii Darby, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Las Vegas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Las Vegas' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Desert Pines, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Las Vegas will face off against Bonanza at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Pines will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on March 24th.
