Basketball Game Preview: Oakmont Regional Spartans vs. Groton-Dunstable Crusaders

The Oakmont Regional Spartans will face off against the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakmont Regional is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Oakmont Regional is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Marlborough 73-22 on Tuesday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Panthers are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Groton-Dunstable suffered their biggest loss since January 27, 2024 on Monday. They lost 54-33 to Gardner. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Oakmont Regional pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.0 points per game. As for Groton-Dunstable, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.

Oakmont Regional beat Groton-Dunstable 29-20 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oakmont Regional since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
