Baseball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

Franklin had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it seven. They came up short against the A.J. Ellender Patriots, falling 13-3. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

As for A.J. Ellender, their win bumped their record up to 1-0. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14, 2025 (when they won 12-1).

For A.J. Ellender's part, Dakota Porche made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Porche has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Kadyn Guidry was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2025. Kayne Hendon was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Franklin will face off against New Iberia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for A.J. Ellender, they will take on Maurepas at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
