Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Falcons vs. Newberg Tigers

Liberty and Newberg are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Liberty Falcons will challenge the Newberg Tigers at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Liberty is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Liberty lost 72-48 to McMinnville on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, Newberg didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Sprague on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory.

Newberg's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Liberty skirted past Newberg 54-52 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
