Basketball Recap: Stanton County Skates Past Elkhart with Ease

Stanton County won the last time they faced Elkhart and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Stanton County Trojans blew past the Elkhart Wildcats, posting a 57-29 win. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Wildcats are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Avery Scott was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 17 points and 22 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last nine games she's played. Kynzi Fehringer was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Stanton County was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Elkhart still got an impressive performance from Hailee Martinez-Ellis, who posted nine points.

The victory got Stanton County back to even at 7-7. As for Elkhart, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
