Volleyball Game Preview: Mt. Mansfield Cougars vs. Essex Hornets

Mt. Mansfield hasn't had much luck against Essex recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out to square off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Mt. Mansfield sitting on five straight wins and Essex on 29 (dating back to last season).

Mt. Mansfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Champlain Valley Union, who was ranked fifth at the time (Mt. Mansfield was ranked sixth). The Cougars came out on top against the Redhawks by a score of 3-1 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Essex got the win against St. Johnsbury Academy on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-11, 25-19.

Mt. Mansfield's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Essex, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.

Mt. Mansfield suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Essex in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
