Recap: Eastern Ramblers vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
On Friday, the Eastern Ramblers faced the Roosevelt Roughriders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eastern was beaten by the Roughriders 74-42. Eastern has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Eastern still got an impressive performance from Isyah Joyner, who scored 21 points. That was a full 50% of Eastern's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rashid Faruq was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Roosevelt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Richard Hall out in front who scored 12 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Kareem Davis, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Eastern has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Eastern will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Roosevelt, they will head out on the road to take on the Trainers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (McKinley Tech is ranked 11th, while the Roughriders are ranked ninth).
