Baseball Recap: Madison Highland Prep Has No Trouble Against Highland Prep West

Madison Highland Prep's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Highland Prep West HORNETS. The result was nothing new for the Heat, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Anthony Kritikos made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing nine bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Rhett Clemens was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Madison Highland Prep is 4-1 when Clemens posts two or more runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Nate Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Madison Highland Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Madison Highland Prep's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Highland Prep West, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Madison Highland Prep and Highland Prep West will both be playing Fountain Hills the next time they take the field. The Heat will head out to face the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the HORNETS will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
