Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Pleasant Grove won against Sheldon on Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Laguna Creek Cardinals an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Madeline Lawson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Brozaitis, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Paredes, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Pleasant Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Pleasant Grove is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Laguna Creek, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
