Softball Recap: TERRA Environmental vs. Lourdes Academy
TERRA Environmental had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 12-6 to make it six. They lost 19-4 to Lourdes Academy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to TERRA Environmental of the 21-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Sophia Smith and Melissa Hernandez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Hernandez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Lourdes Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-5. Considering they have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Lourdes Academy's side, Mia Rivera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Rivera was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February of 2025.
In other batting news, Cristina Alfonso was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
